Why the cable is worth caring about
Cable is where installers save money, because the client cannot see it and it all looks the same on the drum. The saving shows up later. Copper clad aluminium sold as copper will not carry power over Ethernet the length the specification says it will, so the camera at the end of the run boots, drops, and boots again. Thin or unshielded cable picks up interference from whatever else shares the conduit. Cable rated for indoors, run outdoors, goes brittle in the sun and lets water into the jacket.
None of that fails on handover day. All of it fails in the second rainy season, and by then nobody remembers what was installed.
What to insist on
Solid copper conductors rather than copper clad aluminium, the right category for the distance, outdoor rated jacket for anything exposed, and connectors matched to the cable rather than whatever was in the van. Ask what is going in and get it written on the quotation.
