Who EZVIZ are
Hikvision created EZVIZ in 2013 to sell to households rather than to installers. It is the same company and the same manufacturing behind it, aimed at somebody who wants one camera on the gate and an alert on their phone.
The range is cameras, video doorbells, smart locks and battery and solar cameras for places with no power run and no cabling.
When EZVIZ is the right answer, and when it is not
It is the right answer for a home, a small office or a single shop. Setup takes minutes, the footage goes to a card in the camera or to the cloud, and there is no separate recorder to buy or fail.
It is the wrong answer once you are past a handful of cameras, or once the footage has to be kept for weeks and handed to somebody. At that point you want a recorder and a proper drive, which is Hikvision territory, and our storage calculator will tell you what size drive that takes.
The solar and battery models
A camera on a gate, a plot boundary or a site with no supply is the awkward case that used to mean trenching a cable. The solar and battery models remove that problem, which in practice is what makes them worth the price difference here.
