Who Cudy are
Cudy was founded in 2018 and is based in Shenzhen, China. The range covers Wi-Fi routers, mesh systems, repeaters, 4G and 5G routers, switches, power over Ethernet equipment, media converters and optical modules.
It is a young brand and it competes on price. We are straightforward about what that means: it is good value in the places where value is the point, and it is not what we would specify for a site that has to run unattended for five years.
Where the 4G and 5G routers earn their place
Plenty of sites in Tanzania have no fixed line and are not getting one. A construction site, a plot outside town, a shop where the fibre order has been pending for months. A router with a SIM in it is how those sites get remote camera access at all.
It is also the standard backup for a site that does have fibre and cannot afford to lose the cameras when the line goes down.
